The first step to becoming a certified diver

Buckeye Diving School offers a fun, safe atmosphere on the road to becoming a certified Open Water Diver. Buckeye's knowledgeable training staff will assist you through our comprehensive training program. Our class begins with an orientation followed by a minimum of 4 class sessions, encompassing both classroom and pool instruction. Each class is approximately 3 hours and includes class review and pool time.



   Our SSI training system covers all the basic skills you will need to become a safe and comfortable diver. Some of the specific skills taught include snorkeling, buoyancy control, regulator retrieval and clearing, mask clearing, air sharing, controlled ascent/descent, all done in a fun and comfortable setting. Our training is done through repetition in short sessions and not in an 8 hour slam class. We want you to become a diver not a drop out! $225. four 3 hr. sessions. 1 1/2 - hr. class & 1 1/2 - hr. pool. Register by phone or mail. $50 deposit reserves your spot. Balance due one week prior to class starting date.

Semiprivate/Home Study Option

If the classroom schedule just won't fit your needs, pick up your Student Kit and start home study immediately. Pool classes may be scheduled now, or later, at your convenience. Note: some pool facilities charge a $10 to $20 nonresident fee. Pool times are scheduled at your convenience. PLEASE NOTE: Our HOME STUDY classes are NOT a crash course ... they are a complete and comprehensive training program.

   Because of the limited number of students, we can accomplish the same training in a shorter time period. All skills are learned just as they are in the classroom/pool setting, with you taking time between classes to view the instructional video and contemplate your performance. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO PROPERLY COMPLETE THE LEARNING PROCESS. The snorkeling class is eliminated so you must be a comfortable snorkeler to take the Semiprivate class.

4 people - $245 each, 3 people - $275 each, 2 people - $305 each, 1 person - $499 plus student kit

Student Kit

Consists of: Manual/study guide, DVD, Diver's Logbook, Doppler dive tables, student folder, certification card* & photo, and carry case. Retail value $149

Companion Kit

For additional family members ... includes all materials in the student kit less the DVD.

Class equipment needed:

Every diver is required to have their own mask, snorkel, boots and a pair of fins (NOT flippers ... Flipper was a dolphin in a 60’s TV series ...) This is the back bone of the scuba system and needs to be custom fit for each diver. We have a CORE package available for our students at special student pricing.
